This documentary is fascinatingly interesting, heartbreaking, and amazingly well done.

The Internet’s Own Boy

Brief Review

The Internet’s Own Boy portrays the incredible life and tragic death of Aaron Swartz who is best known for founding Reddit.com and for his effforts in social and political activism.

I’d love this documentary even if I wasn’t a technology teacher, but since I am, I love it even more. This film examines issues at the intersection of speech, government oversight, privacy, and technology. I have yet to find anything that sparks discussion regarding what it means to be a digital citizen quite like this. I highly recommend viewing it and sharing it with your students.
